What Is IPL?

A photofacial with IPL is a rejuvenating skin treatment for adults with dark spots, sun spots, age spots, and freckles on their neck and face. IPL is a wonderful treatment that can be used on the face or body to target discoloration. The treatment stimulates collagen with minimal downtime. IPL may be a noninvasive process but can be highly effective and create great results. Our experienced team uses intense wavelengths of light energy that raise the skin's temperature just enough to start the natural healing process and boost collagen production. As the added nutrients take effect, you should see a healthier complexion with a more even tone and decreased spots.
How Does IPL Work?
If no other treatments are performed, an IPL photofacial is completed inside our Westlake Village or Studio City, CA office in about 30 – 60 minutes in one of our minor procedure rooms. To start the photofacial, your technician will wash and dry your skin before protecting your eyes with goggles. The photofacial is administered using a handheld device that will pass over the skin while emitting light energy pulses. While many patients will feel some discomfort during the photofacial, it is usually bearable for the fast treatment time. Your provider will apply a tinted SPF that will help with the redness.
Frequency of treatment: every 4 – 6 weeks
